About the Author

Patricia Kay Lucas

Patricia Kay Lucas writes fiction and non-fiction from an unmanicured, marshy corner of Madison, Wisconsin. She holds a degree in natural resources journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and continues to learn about and marvel at the natural world every day. Lucas has racked up hundreds of miles on rivers, lakes, and trails in the United States and Canada, many of which ended up in the pages of her trip journal, and eventually into Journey to Michipicoten, a work that began in 1994 (and in fact may never end). Visits to historical sites in Ontario, Quebec, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and London, England also contributed to the brew. More fiction is always on tap. As for nonfiction, Lucas collaborates with Red Ink Editorial Services on editing and writing projects for a wide range of clients. But her latest epic is a reading project, to study the classics in chronological order and jot her notes in a series of small, beautiful books. This began back in 2005 with Gilgamesh and has progressed to literature of the mid-19th century (finally!). Favorites so far include Ovid’s love poems, Jane Eyre, and Great Expectations.
